Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Friday, Dec 13, 1918

Henry Clay Gott, 70 years old, died at his home, 1213 East Main Street at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from Bright's disease. Although the deceased has been in failing health for several months his death was entirely unexpected as he had appeared to be in better than usual spirits up to within 20 minutes of the time of his death. Mr. Gott was born near Browns Valley April 13, 1849 and lived on a farm in that neighborhood until 1900 when he moved to this city to spend a retired life. He was one of the most successful farmers of this county and was known by many of the older citizens of the county. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and a staunch adherent of this Christian organization. He was married to Miss Nancy Lewman 50 years ago and to this union were born two children. He is survived by his wife, ond daughter, Mrs. Charles Gilliland, Mt. Tabor; one son, Frank Gott, this city; one brother, Stephen Gott, Kentland and one sister, Mrs. Kate Davis, Lebanon. - kbz
